Ivica Skelin is experienced and successful basketball coach, with two faculty degrees in economics and faculty for sports education for basketball coaches.He is a hardworking individual, and he has committed character with a strong winning mentality. His winning mentality also defined his successful coaching career.He fluently speaks Croatian, English, and French. Skelin built his coaching career step by step.Starting in 1990, he coached all youth age groups in KK Split, in his hometown.He was a national champion in all the categories, and he developed some great players like Roko Ukic, former NBA and Euroleague player. In senior basketball he started as an assistant coach in Belgium (VOO Verviers-Pepinster), where he won the Belgian Super Cup, and he participated in the international competitions of the ULEB Cup and FIBA Cup.
Skelin’s head coaching career started in 2005 in KK Split, and over more than two decades, he has been successful in various clubs in different countries, such as Belgium, the Netherlands, Croatia, and Poland.In that period he won multiple trophies: Champion x1 (Dutch League Championship)Cup Winner x3 (2 times Dutch Cup Winner, 1time Belgium Cup Winner)Super Cup x1 (Dutch Super Cup Winner)He was voted as a 3-time Coach of the Year (2x Dutch, 1x Belgian). Skelin was also a head coach of the Croatian national team in 2017-2018.Before that, as an assistant coach of the Croatian national team, he participated in two European championships and one Olympic Games.Latest Ivica Skelin was a head coach of Legia Warsaw in the competitive Polish Basketball League.
